This week we are blessed to have Marshal Chuck Haggard of Agile Training and Consulting on the show. He is a 30 year veteran of both law enforcement and the military, and is a well-known subject matter expert in police use of force. Chuck provides some much needed perspective and expert analysis of the current events to include the tragic killing of George Floyd by a now charged rogue police officer. He hits on the current riots and the history of similar riots in the 60s, along with the movement to defund the police and the possible impact if this were to occur. On a lighter note the interview moves to one of Chuck’s other areas of expertise and that is the efficacy and use of oleoresin capsicum spray (OC pepper spray).
“I would invite anyone who thinks its easy to arrest someone who doesn’t want to be arrested to put handcuffs on someone who doesn’t want to go with them, check in at their local Jiu-Jitsu Dojo and try some Jiu-Jitsu. If you’ve never done it before, you will quickly find that even though you are rolling with another white belt, its not as easy as you might think. And you’re in a setting where you both agree not to hurt each other and are training with an agreed on set of rules.” Essentially, if you haven’t even done that, you have little perspective to critique law enforcement on the use of force and how you would do it better. You simply don’t know what you don’t know.
Chuck provides some excellent commentary so DONT MISS IT!
